Description
Oblong to slightly oval cantaloupe-type melon with thick, pale green to yellow rind mottled like “toad skin.” Flesh: pale green to deep green, very sweet, aromatic, firm and juicy. Fruit weight typically 2–4 kg (4–9 lb). Days to maturity 80–95. Good shelf life and transportability; excellent eater and seller for markets. Spanish variety commonly grown in Spain (especially Murcia) for decades and heavily exported across Europe. Name means “toad skin” because of the rough mottled rind. Long favored for sweetness, storage and shipping.
