Italy. Live the slow life.

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Italy to collect seeds and talk with many wonderful people about all aspects of the Italian culture and farm family life. This was the ultimate food experience. Staying for 5 weeks, 5 farms, 20141015_015241and in the middle was the food Olympics Slow Food’s Terra Madre. The experience you hope a lifetime to take. I hope you will enjoy the new blog, learn a little about other cultures and seeds. Thank you so much to Slow Food Portland and Slow Food everywhere for having me at the conference!

Now welcome to my Italian experience, relieve it with me.

Flying into Milan or Milano, as I learned to call it was breathtaking. The alps here you can see the flight tracker over the areas. It is always fun to follow your travel to get to know the terrain you are over. The cities were all small and quaint, little communities surrounded by a quilted patchwork of agriculture.

My first sights coming off the plane were of old houses the Milano train station and trying to figure out how to navigate via train immediately off the plane to try to find Quattordio, Italy and meet my first farm host Marcella at a bus stop.20141015_113653

“Venire per il lungo viaggio!” – Come along for the journey!
