Description
Ansof’s Yellow Gule Tomato is steeped in history. The seeds trace back to Cecilie Jansen, who obtained them from Ansof Christophersen in 1975. Ansof’s family was engaged in the lumber trade and had ties to England, which likely facilitated this variety’s arrival in Norway. It is believed to have been cultivated there from 1900 to 1920, and in honor of Cecilie, it is affectionately referred to as “Aunt Cis.” These small yellow fruits are known for their desirable thin skin, which is nearly translucent, and they offer a sweet, juicy flavor. The sturdy plants exhibit resilience and disease resistance, a testament to their adaptation to the Norwegian climate. Ansof’s Yellow is a charming little salad tomato that comes highly recommended! Additionally, this variety is one of few featured at Kann restaurant, thanks to Chef Gregory Gourdet, a three-time James Beard Award winner. Experience the delightful taste and rich heritage of Ansof’s Yellow!
