A cherished family heirloom from Jack Maderis of North Carolina, the African Queen Tomato has been passed down through generations. The seeds were first introduced by Amy Goldman Fowler, who received them from John Coykendall. John had been given the plants by Jack in 1986, along with a note that these would produce large pink tomatoes. According to Amy, Jack’s family had been cultivating the African Queen for many generations. This mid-season, indeterminate variety features distinctive potato-leaf plants and produces impressive beefsteak tomatoes weighing between 1 to 2 pounds. With a rich, old-fashioned flavor, these tomatoes deliver a BLT tomato like non other.
